In today’s important travel news, Assam, Bangalore, Srinagar and Kolkata have announced new changes in their travel guidelines. All incoming travellers are advised to take note of these updates in order to avoid any hassles while travelling.

For Assam
Amid the new COVID-19 variant Omicron causing worldwide concern, the Assam government has issued new guidelines for international travellers entering the state.
> All international travellers must submit an online self-declaration form (SDF) on the Air Suvidha portal before the scheduled travel. It must also include travel details of the last 14 days.
> One must also carry a COVID-19 RT-PCR negative report conducted within 72 hours before departure, irrespective of vaccination status.
> Passengers arriving from countries-at-risk (European countries including the United Kingdom, South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Hong Kong and Israel) will undergo a self-paid COVID-19 test on arrival and will wait at the airport till the results are declared.
> If the test is negative, they’ll undergo home quarantine for seven days, re-test on the eighth day and if negative again, they’ll further self-monitor for the next seven days.
> If the test is positive, their samples will be sent for genomic testing at the INSACOG laboratory network and they will be moved to a separate isolation facility and treated as per standard protocol, which includes contact tracing. The contacts will undergo institutional quarantine or home quarantine monitored strictly by the state government.
Please note: Children under the age of 5 are exempted from pre and post-arrival testing. However, if found symptomatic, they will be tested and treated as per the laid-down protocol.

For Bengaluru
The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru recently announced that 2% of the passengers coming from countries that are not on the at-risk list shall undergo random testing at the airport on arrival. The cost of random testing of such passengers will be borne by the BIAL (Bangalore International Airport Limited).

For Srinagar
The Srinagar administration has issued fresh guidelines for international passengers arriving at the Srinagar Airport.
> All passengers should have the Aarogya Setu app downloaded on their smartphones.
> The passengers with any symptoms of COVID-19 are advised not to board the flight.
> All international travellers must submit an online self-declaration form (SDF) on the Air Suvidha portal before the scheduled travel.
> Once the form is filled out, the passenger will receive an acknowledgment by email. This acknowledgment should be shown to the health officer on arrival at the Srinagar Airport before proceeding for immigration.
> The Government of Jammu and Kashmir shall administer a mandatory free COVID-19 RT-PCR test on arrival.
> Passengers will be taken to a quarantine facility to wait till the result of the RT-PCR test is received. There will be options for both paid hotel rooms and state-sponsored free accommodation.
> Passengers with negative RT-PCR reports shall be released from the quarantine facility and advised for home quarantine. A follow-up test shall be administered to such passengers on the eighth day.
> Passengers who test positive for RT-PCR must be isolated and quarantined at a state facility for treatment and observation.

For Kolkata
Random checking of domestic passengers by state health authorities is being done regularly at the Kolkata Airport. RT-PCR reports or full vaccination status of passengers are being mandatorily checked by the concerned airlines before boarding a flight.
