Kashmir Valley: Train services resume after 11 months

Passenger trains have returned to the Kashmir Valley from today, February 22. The services, which were suspended since March last year due to the COVID-19 lockdown, will be available on the Banihal-Baramulla section which covers over 130 kilometres.

The first trips today were the 9.10 am from Baramulla and the 11.25 am from Banihal. According to Piyush Goyal, the Union Railway Minister, the resumption of services will “enhance ease of movement and provide a big boost to the tourism sector.”
