Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1 to reopen from October 31

Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) has announced that flight operations are all set to resume from the dedicated domestic terminal of the airport, Terminal 1 (T1).

Terminal 1 will resume operations from October 31, 2021 at 12:01 am with Indian budget carriers IndiGo and SpiceJet.

The first flight out of the terminal will be an IndiGo flight to Mumbai, at 01:05 am.


The terminal had been shut for 18 months due to the pandemic-induced reduction in flight demand. Now, with flight operations getting back to pre-COVID levels, the terminal is being reopened anticipating the increased travel demand owing to the festive season.

It may be noted that operations restarted in a calibrated manner from Terminal 3 and Terminal 2 of the airport from May 25, 2020 and July 22, 2021 respectively

With the resumption of the third terminal, the Delhi Airport will now be completely functional.
