Amrit Bharat Station Scheme: Railways to Upgrade 508 Railway Stations

The ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’ is a new policy launched by the Ministry of Railways
aimed at improving station facilities beyond the basic necessities. Additionally, the scheme focuses on constructing roof plazas and city centers within the stations.

These 508 stations are distributed across 27 states and union territories. Among them, there are 55 stations each in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, 49 in Bihar, 44 in Maharashtra, 37 in West Bengal, 34 in Madhya Pradesh, 32 in Assam, 25 in Odisha, 22 in Punjab, 21 each in Gujarat and Telangana, 20 in Jharkhand, and 18 each in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
The total cost of the project is estimated at ₹ 24,470 crore. It aims to provide modern passenger amenities at the stations while also implementing a design that ensures improved traffic circulation and intermodal integration.
