30+ special trains announced for high-rush routes

Seeing a rise in train bookings, the Indian Railways has announced multiple new special trains for travel across India. These trains require advance reservation and will mostly run on select dates to clear the rush from popular routes.

Important stations that will be connected are New Delhi, Bandra Terminus, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Pune, Gorakhpur, Bhagalpur, Howrah, Darbhanga, Bengaluru, and Dibrugarh, among others.

Once you spot a train on your desired route, you can check its halt stations and timings on the ‘Trains by Name/No’ section on the home screen of the ixigo trains app.

Northern Railway trains

> Fully reserved, single side trips will be run from Delhi to Saharsa, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, along with a train from Mumbai to Gorakhpur via Lucknow. See the train chart here:


> 06580 (Muzaffarpur – Yesvantpur Spl) will run every Monday from April 26 to June 28

> 02516 (Agartala – Bengaluru Cantt Spl) will run on Saturdays and Tuesdays from April 24 to May 11

> 02515 (Bengaluru Cantt – Agartala Spl) will run on Tuesdays and Fridays from April 27 to May 14

> 06597 (Yesvantpur – Howrah Spl) has started running on Thursdays up to June 24

> 06598 (Howrah – Yesvantpur Spl) will run on Tuesdays from April 27 to June 29

Western Railway trains

> 01226 (Chhapra – LTT Special) will run on April 26

> 01101 (Dadar – Manduadih Superfast Spl) will run on Sundays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays starting May 1.

> 01102 (Manduadih – Dadar Superfast Spl) will run on Tuesdays, Fridays, Mondays and Thursdays starting May 1.

> 09061 (Bandra T. – Barauni Spl) will run on April 26

> 09062 (Barauni – Bandra T. Spl) will run on April 29

Four pairs of existing summer special trains have also been extended owing to continued passenger demand:
